On today’s Beaumont Networking Events we look at a great event for the under 40 crowd – the August SETX YPO Mixer.

Savvy 20 and 30 somethings are learning that Southeast Texas referral groups and networking organizations are a great way to get themselves in front of their potential new clients and referral partners.

SETX YPO specializes in putting together networking events for Southeast Texans under 40.

If you’re new to the networking world, here are some tips:

DON’T try to sell at the event. If you think someone is a good prospect for you just make a personal connection with them and invite them for coffee a few days after the event.
DO bring business cards. Younger networkers don’t all actually take your business card, but they will often take a picture of it with their phone or quickly add you to their Facebook network.

Think of Southeast networking events as a matchmaker – it provides a comfortable introduction experience.

The “courtship” or sales relationship is developed in the weeks following the networking event.

The “wedding” or sale of your product or service (or mutually beneficial referral partnership) will happen in time – if you don’t oversell early in the process.
